Due to WWF chairman Vince McMahon's desire to have his performers carry WWF-exclusive ring names, they were renamed, as simply " The Rockers." The team proved popular with both children and women. The Rockers redebuted at a WWF house show on July 7, 1988. World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (1988–1999) The Rockers (1988–1991) They then returned to AWA, but were re-signed by WWF a year later. They were fired from WWF two weeks later, for a bar incident (a misunderstanding, according to Michaels' autobiography). In 1987, The Rockers were signed by a competing promotion: the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). The pair were billed as " The Midnight Rockers", and held the AWA World Tag Team Championship, defeating Doug Somers and Buddy Rose ( Paul Perschmann). Michaels made his national-level debut at the age of twenty in American Wrestling Association (AWA), once again teaming with Marty Jannetty. Michaels also made several appearances in the Dallas, Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling throughout 1985. There, he and tag team partner Marty Jannetty ( Frederick Jannetty) defeated The Batten Twins for the Central States Tag Team Championship, later losing it back to the Battens. He also worked for Central States Wrestling. During his time with TAW, Michaels and Paul Diamond ( Tom Boric) were awarded the TAW Tag Team Championship by Chavo Guerrero, Sr. After his training with Lothario, he debuted as Shawn Michaels, with Mid-South Wrestling and Texas All-Star Wrestling (TAW) promotions in 1984.

And of course rumors of the dream Hogan/Austin match started around WM 22. I also remember rumors of a match between Hogan and Shane, though I don't know if it was for WM 22.

He spoke recently of plans to face Cena.don't know if that was to be at 22 or 24 or if Hogan is just talking out of his ass as he often seems to do. And with those two set, I'd imagine Orton vs Batista for the World Title was the plan and I figure Cena/HHH still would've happened.Īlso, I wonder if there were plans for Hogan, since he was around but oddly not used. Kurt Angle recently said Taker wanted him to end the streak at Wrestlemania 22 and there have been rumors for a while that if Eddie hadn't passed, he would've faced HBK. What do you think the Wrestlemania 22 card would have looked like if Eddie hadn't passed away and Batista hadn't gotten injured? According to rumors, there were many matches planned for Wrestlemania 22, but due to different cirumstances, they couldn't happen.
